Maplewood Cannabis Ordinance

Maplewood's City Council adopted a cannabis ordinance on December 9, 2024. The city caps cannabis retail registrations at four, issued first come, first served, and requires a 500-foot buffer from schools, residential treatment facilities and playground or park attractions. Home Grow Rules in Maplewood

Minnesota law allows adults 21 and older to grow up to 8 cannabis plants at home, with a maximum of 4 mature plants at any time. Plants must be in an enclosed locked space not visible from public view. Maplewood does not add local restrictions. Review your lease or HOA rules if applicable.

Purchase and Possession Limits

• Up to 2 ounces of cannabis flower per transaction
• Up to 8 grams of concentrate
• Edibles: up to 800mg THC per transaction
• Public possession: 2 ounces; home possession: 2 pounds

Medical Cannabis

Maplewood residents can enroll in Minnesota's medical cannabis program at mn.gov/ocm at no cost. At a licensed dispensary that serves medical patients, an OCM patient ID means the 15% cannabis tax and the 6.875% sales tax do not apply.
