The most common entry point. Responsibilities include manicuring dried flower, separating shake, bucking plants, and maintaining a sterile workspace. It requires patience and an eye for detail.
Cultivation Technician
1-3 Years Experience
The daily caretakers of the plants. Tasks include watering, mixing nutrients, pruning, defoliating, cloning, transplanting, and monitoring for pests or diseases (Integrated Pest Management).
Head Grower / Director of Cultivation
5+ Years Experience
Oversees the entire facility. Responsible for crop steering, yields, genetic selection, managing the environmental control systems (HVAC, lighting), compliance tracking, and managing the cultivation staff.
The Reality of the Job

- Strict ComplianceEvery plant is tracked via RFID tags. Moving a plant to a different room without logging it can result in massive state fines.
How to Get Hired
If you lack commercial cannabis experience, highlight transferable skills. Commercial agriculture, warehouse logistics, or scientific laboratory experience are highly valued. A willingness to do the dirty work (cleaning floors, washing pots) and an understanding of cleanliness and sterile environments will set you apart from candidates who just "like weed."
