The FDA has not approved CBD for use in animals
The FDA says it cannot ensure the safety or effectiveness of cannabis-derived products marketed for pets and recommends talking with a veterinarian about appropriate treatment options.

A five-step buyer checklist
1. Ask your veterinarian before giving a cannabis-derived product
2. Avoid products with unclear THC results
3. Match the certificate of analysis to the exact batch
4. Check CBD concentration per milliliter, not only per bottle
5. Keep the product and all THC edibles away from pets
How to read the concentration
A label that says “600 mg CBD” usually describes the whole bottle. Divide the total CBD by the bottle volume to calculate milligrams per milliliter. Example: a 600 mg bottle containing 30 mL has 20 mg CBD per mL. That arithmetic is not a dosing recommendation.

What the COA should show
Confirm the batch or lot number, CBD concentration, THC result, laboratory name, and test date. A generic certificate that cannot be matched to the bottle does not verify that product.

If a pet gets into THC
Lethargy, heavy drooling, vomiting, agitation, tremors, and convulsions can be signs of an adverse cannabis exposure. Contact your veterinarian, an emergency animal hospital, or animal poison control immediately.
